Audio Update – Week of February 22, 2010

by Jerry on February 24, 2010

Here it is, Wednesday night, and I’m finally getting this audio update ready. There have been too many 12 hours days this week!! I still need to finish writing a radio script that I should have finished yesterday. Whew!! I thought I might get to it after supper, but supper was delayed by a man who came to our door to tell me that one of the water pipes supplying the community was broken. (For reasons I’ll never grasp, the radio station became a reluctant water utility many years ago.) I shut off the water valve to the community so the tank would not run out and then went with the man to locate the leak. Mildred and I eventually got our supper, but Peter or Travis will have some unplanned work to do in the morning because tomorrow is Mildred’s and my day off. ;-) Day off or not, I’ll probably spend part of it finishing yesterday’s script and writing today’s. I sure don’t want to try to write three of them on Friday.

Besides the radio work, Mildred and I have been busy making preparations for our furlough. We leave in a little over a week and still have lots to do. I’m almost done with a video that we plan to use when we visit churches and friends. It’s a simple video, but it took quite a while to shoot it. It consists of interviews with some of our listeners. Their enthusiasm for Radio HRGS is amazing. Many don’t even call it Radio HRGS. Even though there are lots of secular stations here now, they just call it “the radio station.”

Besides the things we’ll need for presentations on the road, we need to work ahead here so that our absence will not burden the rest of the staff any more than necessary. So Mildred has been making up her “Monday Morning Concerts” as far ahead as she can and we’ve both been “voice tracking” well ahead of normal lead time.

Here is the audio update with a peek into some of the programming additions we have in mind for the near future.
