I had a bit of a delay here with the audio update. I started to work on it after supper yesterday, but could not get the audio file converted from wav to mp3. Something broke in the program I use and I couldn’t find any other programs I wanted to use. So today I took the file back to the shop and converted it on my laptop. Seems like it’s always something around here.
Last week I told about getting some new furniture. Our son, Jesse, wanted to see pictures. So here’s one that shows both pieces. Black was the only color we could find. Wow! Do these things ever suck the light out of a room! But they get the job done. Since they are painted, maybe we’ll get around to painting them a little brighter some day. I wonder what color covers black really well.
Speaking of “it’s always something around here,” we had a bit of a scare yesterday. I’d been having some symptoms for a while of something going on with my gall bladder, or liver, or heart, or something. I wasn’t sure what it was, but it was infrequent and not all that severe, so I’d been just kind of waiting to see if it got worse. Yesterday it got a whole lot worse.
I came home for lunch with the familiar pain in the back that soon felt like a rod rammed right through and out the bottom of my sternum. Annoying, to say the least. Probably not as bad as a real impalement, but tolerable when I know it won’t last long. Then it turned ugly. I started getting heartburn along with some minor nausea and major sweating. All I could do for a while was lay on the nice, cool tile floor and soak my shirt with sweat. I called Mildred and and our friend Dr. Raymond (whom I’ve been seeing professionally way too much lately). Mildred took me over to the clinic where he works and a teaching doctor from Ohio State University who works a lot with heart patients “happened” to be there. After lots of questions, stethoscope activities, and probing under my ribs, Dr. Paul ran an EKG. He said the readout was better than his own, so that was re-assuring. We were pretty sure it was not the heart because of the EKG, lack of neck or arm pain, and my calm attitude. But, just to make sure, in the list of blood tests he wanted me to have he included a check for the enzyme that is released from a heart attack .
This morning, we went over to the clinic at Anthony’s Key and they took some of my blood and said they would have the results at the end of the day today. So I plan to swing by there first thing in the morning and get the report before heading across the road to La Clinica Esperanza for a follow up visit. Friends who have had gall stones say my symptoms match theirs, but I guess I’ll have to wait till tomorrow to know what’s up.
So, that’s the big issue in our lives right now. But I’m not the only one around here with some health issues going on. I’ll let the HRGS audio update tell you about the rest.

Hi Jerry,
Sorry to hear about your illness. I was glad to hear it wasn’t the heart, but gall stones are not something to disrespect. We will pray the blood results either indicate the problem or that there is not a problem other than too many pretzels or crackers — Oh, I hope that is not the problem.
Take care – Herman
